At Morgan + English, our culture is important to us, and we’re looking for a like-minded, flexible and passionate Commercial Lawyer to take on an increasing client workload specialising in relating to the thoroughbred industry, beef production, processing and infrastructure sectors.
About the role
- You will be working closely with the relevant supervising partner to have carriage of the matter;
- You will have direct client contact and be expected to manage the client throughout the matter;
- You will be expected to have the capacity to efficiently advise and attend to the following broadly defined tasks:
a.) Corporate governance documents – member and director resolutions;
b.) Draft and advise on company documents – shareholder agreements and constitutions;
c.) Advise on corporate restructure and succession issues:
d.) Draft and advise on commercial contracts;
e.) Brief counsel and run commercial litigation matters with the capacity to draft claim documents, take evidence and deal with interlocutory matters in the ordinary course; and
f.) Advise on debt recover matters with a sound knowledge of bankruptcy and insolvency law.
About you
You are a self-driven, solution and results focused lawyer from an experience commercial law and corporate litigation background, and possess the following attributes:
- You are legally qualified with 3-5 years experience post admission;
- You are interested in growing with the organisation and capable of holding a leadership position with them in the future;
- You are a hands on and dedicated individual;
- Enjoy a fast-paced environment and autonomous role;
- Strong communication, interpersonal, consultation and negotiation skills, including presentation skills;
- Demonstrates ability to manage time effectively and manage competing priorities; and
- You are a team player with a professional and courteous manner.
