Significant new rules have come into place regarding agricultural vehicles and combinations on public roads. A new National Class 1 Agriculture Vehicle and Combination Notice removes the need to apply for a permit to move agricultural combinations on the roads in large areas of regional Australia. Following this new standard, there are now only five zones in Australia, with varying maximum vehicle and machinery dimensions. A network map provided by the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) shows the approved zones and relevant conditions. In addition, the NVHR have constructed an operator’s guide, which provides practical instructions on how to comply with the conditions. It is still necessary to apply for a permit, via the NHVR portal where the vehicles and combinations exceed the zone dimension limits. Contact M + E for further information and assistance.
